Our Services to Women Considering Abortion
Free Ultrasound: If you are considering abortion, having an ultrasound will be helpful for two reasons:
1. To verify that your pregnancy is viable: A positive urine pregnancy test does not mean that your pregnancy is viable. Miscarriage is very common, especially in first time pregnancies. You can receive a free ultrasound to determine that you do in fact have a viable pregnancy and that you have not naturally miscarried.
2. To determine Estimated Gestational Age (how far along you are): The abortion procedure changes depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy. During the decision making process, It is important to educate yourself about the specific procedure that you will be having so that you can make an informed decision about the risks associated with that procedure. The price of an abortion changes depending on what procedure you have. You will also need to know how far along you are to weigh the financial implications of your decision.
Abortion Education: It is so important that you make an informed decision about abortion. This decision will be one of the most important of your life and should not be taken lightly. The Northlake CPC has a Registered Nurse on Staff who can educate you about the abortion procedure. You will have a one on one, confidential appointment with our nurse where you will be able to voice your questions and concerns about abortion. Our nurse will present you with accurate medical information about abortion. You will have the opportunity to watch a PowerPoint and or video on abortion if you choose to do so. It is important to remember that this is your decision. You will have the option to discuss as little or as much in this appointment as you like.
Free STD Testing: It is important to find out if you have an STD prior to having an abortion. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is a potentially life threatening disease which can lead to an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy and reduced fertility. Of patients who have a Chlamydia infection at the time of their abortion, 23% will develop PID within 4 weeks. The Northlake CPC offers testing for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Herpes, and HIV.
